Young attorney Pen Wilkinson, broken in body and spirit, is recovering from the accident that left her a paraplegic and killed her young niece. Confined to a dismal rehab facility and abandoned by her family, friends, and fiance, she becomes troubled by signs that the facility is not what it seems. She looks into a series of unexpected deaths among the facility’s residents, including a friend of Pen’s, learning that the deceased residents made large contributions to a local charity. As the unseen perpetrators press her to drop the inquiry, Pen presses on, working to learn the truth, realizing that she, too, has become . . .
